Do not let anxious pursuit rule your life; trust the Father’s care and seek His kingdom first.
Read
Read the complete passage aloud.
Primary passage
Matthew 6:25–34
World English Bible
Luke
Luke 12:22–31
World English Bible
Jesus points to birds and flowers as witnesses to the Father’s care, contrasts anxious striving with kingdom-seeking, and speaks to disciples who face real daily needs.
Discuss
Listen carefully to what Jesus says.
- What does Jesus command?
- What does this passage reveal about Him?
- Where do we resist this command?
- What is difficult or unclear?
- How does seeking the kingdom first redirect anxiety without denying real needs, responsibility, or the value of receiving help?
Practice
Choose one specific act of obedience.
Name one specific worry and the next faithful action it actually requires. Pray for today’s provision, take that action, and release the outcomes you cannot control; seek additional support when anxiety is persistent or overwhelming.
Return
Come back and discuss what happened.
Which worry did you name, what faithful action became clear, and where did you experience—or still struggle to receive—the Father’s care?
Close together
Pray. Then prepare to teach.
Pray
Father, you know what we need. Meet us in fear, give us today’s wisdom and provision, and turn our attention toward your kingdom and righteousness.
Teach
Avoid treating anxiety as a simple moral failure. Emphasize the Father’s care, daily dependence, responsible action, community support, and kingdom priority.
