Meeting guide · command 39

Bear Much Fruit

Live as Jesus' disciples in a way that produces abundant fruit and glorifies the Father.

Read

Read the complete passage aloud.

Primary passage

John 15:8

8 “In this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; and so you will be my disciples.

World English Bible

Within Jesus' teaching about the vine and branches, fruit grows from abiding in Him and becomes visible evidence of discipleship that honors His Father.

Discuss

Listen carefully to what Jesus says.

  1. What does Jesus command?
  2. What does this passage reveal about Him?
  3. Where do we resist this command?
  4. What is difficult or unclear?
  5. What kind of fruit is Jesus seeking in this season, and are we pursuing visible results without remaining in Him?

Practice

Choose one specific act of obedience.

Choose one area where Jesus is inviting growth. Remain attentive to Him each day and repeat one small action that cultivates that fruit in a real relationship.

Return

Come back and discuss what happened.

What repeated action did you take, what fruit began to grow, and how did dependence on Jesus shape it?

Close together

Pray. Then prepare to teach.

Pray

Father, be glorified in us. Jesus, keep us close to you and produce fruit that nourishes others and lasts.

Teach

Read this command within the vine passage: fruit is not frantic performance or numerical success but the result of abiding, pruning, love, and obedience.
